PRODUCT INFORMATION
Between 1840 and 1850 americaâ’s railroad miles tripledâ—and then tripled again by 1860! whistle stop depots cropped up in dusty small towns across the nation. With only one or two arriving trains a day rural stations were outfitted with gas lamps that could be turned on and off as needed. Kendall reproduces 19th century depot lighting complete with the valve chain that the stationmaster would pull to start the flow of gas before lighting the fixture. And though our opal glass globes are strong enough to withstand a gas flame they do a brilliant job diffusing the glow of electric lamping. Kendall merges durable industrial design with warm and whimsical historic inspiration.
